Painting, working with paint and evolving images with paint, is a deeply engaging experience. Learning to paint means learning to think in paint, to register and orchestrate its many qualities, and, further, to take pleasure in this. It means too, to become sensitive to touch, your touch, the speed or drag of the brush. It means, in effect, to learn to see, to see the qualities of things, of substances, of behaviours and of light. This is the ground of aesthetic experience.
